The "Thanksgiving Day" List

It is here... it is finally here! My absolute favorite holiday of all time! THANKSGIVING!!!!! Why is this my favorite holiday you ask? Well for one, you don't have to stress about buying gifts for anyone, get to eat mass quantities of food, watch football all day, and spend time with your family that you may not see very often. Yes, Thanksgiving is good. For some (like my mother) it can be very stressful. She has to clean the house (try to suck up all the tumbleweeds of dog hair that float around the floor) and then cook, cook and cook! Now, don't look at me like that.. I help! In between bites of cheese balls and field goals.... Here is my to do list for Thanksgiving!

  1. Wake up: To the smell of fresh out of the oven Banana and Pumpkin bread
  2. News: Watch Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera try to be funny during the Thanksgiving Day parade
  3. Shower: Realize I have lounged so much all morning that I have about 20 min to shower and get ready before the Grandparents arrive (Actually showered with much time to spare!)
  4. Cook: Run to the kitchen just as the doors are opening for my relatives so I can look like I have been productive all morning. (Already had the appetizers in the oven when they came in...boo ya!)
  5. Actually Cook: Begin making the appetizers for people to snack on (my main duty)
  6. Entertain: Bring the appetizers out and get lost somewhere between a football game and the cheese ball (told ya)
  7. Ok, this time actually cook: Find my mother running between the mashed potatoes, stuffing and turkey and take the baster out of her hand and see a look of relief come over her face (everything went so smoothly she didn't even need me!)
  8. Make a memory: Pose with my family as my 70 something grandfather shakes his way through taking a picture (he insists...) (Grandpa forgot his camera so I got to play photog!)
  9. Make Conversation: Listen to my family talk about how great the food is while my brother and I make inappropriate jokes and quote Family Guy
  10. Eat: Until I can no longer button my pants and I look like I'm about 4 months pregnant.
  11. Spend Time with the Family: Pass out on the sofa together
  12. Sleep: Crawl up the stairs to my room, assume fetal position and tell myself those calories don't count...
  13. Be Thankful: That this holiday is only once a year! No... For the health and safety of my amazing family and those who I call my friends.

The "Sunday After" List

Why do Sundays always feel like the day where everyone needs to spend time getting their life back together? Maybe because you spent the past few days trembling about the GRE exam you were taking on Saturday? Maybe because after the GRE on Saturday you had too much fun? Maybe because you had a girls night at your apartment later that night and your head is now pounding? If you have this problem... here is a Sunday list to follow... (can be applied to pretty much any Sunday following an intense night of celebrating..)

  1. Bed: Go to bed at 2 am
  2. Alarm Clock: Wake up to running children above your head at 7 am
  3. Moment with Thoughts: Contemplate kidnapping.... decide against almost certain jail time
  4. Eat: Instead eat pancakes with OJ... the nectar that brings us back to life
  5. Church: Contemplate pulling yourself together to go to church... but choose to go back into bed instead (fail)
  6. Gym: Decide that you can no longer fight the sunlight burning your retinas and head to the gym to be productive (always good to sweat it out)
  7. Football: Ignore your body telling you it wants to quit for the day and rally to watch your team play (and win! Go Skins!)
  8. Eat: Find someone whose life is more put together than yours to make you dinner (thanks jake :) )
  9. Laundry: Another productive move that requires very little effort
  10. Bed: Try to ignore the great Sunday night movie selection (Elf.. Forgetting Sarah Marshall...) and hit the sack early... you have work in the morning after all!!!
