The birds are chirping. The sun wakes me up earlier in the morning. It is time. Time to bring all those colorful dresses and tops out of storage!!!! YAY!!!! Literally my closet looks like a whole new person has moved in! This also means that I have an opportunity to clear out some more of the clothes I don't wear.

Pile of new clothes ready to be donated!!
Just look at all those amazing spring colors!!! I surprisingly didn't have as much to donate as I thought I would after going through my spring and summer wear. I might have to make some changes at the end of the summer when I see what I wore and what I didn't. However, I did find a few finds:

Pink pants....yup. I have pink pants. Worn them? Maybe 3 times. Goodbye pink pants....

And then there are these. My mode shoes.

"Kristin, what is mode and why do you have two pairs of these ugly colored shoes?"

Well, that is an excellent question. Basically, the official colors of my sorority are brown...and the lesser known color mode. Or as we would say "fancy kaki". During rush we had to wear these awesome colors to show our pride to our potential new members. Hence, two pairs of mode colored shoes.

Goodbye mode colored shoes.

These plus some other items brings my total up to....57! Over halfway there!!!!

#23: Donate 100 Things I Own

Since I have been mostly confined to my apartment for the past 3 days, I have tried to work on the items on my 24 before 24 list that I can complete without having to go anywhere. One of those being my donation goal.

Two bins filled with shirts
Today I tried to tackle what I new would be one of the hardest pieces of clothing to get rid of, my t-shirts. Being in a sorority, you tend to collect an unbelievable amount of t-shirts from socials, greek weeks, families and as passdowns. I can't even tell you how many I have already given away. However, there are a few that I have been holding on to for nostalgic reasons, and I had to go through them today and finally make some decisions.

I ended up keeping most of the sorority shirts that I still have. I gave so many away already, and still wear many of the ones I have left. I also started thinking that I might like to start to make a quilt with all of the old shirts. As stupid as it may sound, it is something I would love to share with my daughter one of these days... I mean look at this shirt:

Its from my senior year bar crawl. A time where I could have more than one drink without feeling tipsy...I can't be expected to get rid of that!!!! My future kids need proof their mom knew how to party!

There is one shirt I do need to get rid of, that I should have a long time ago, but for some crazy reason held on to. Its the shirt we made when my friends and I joined the 14 day club.
The 14 Day Club was a challenge done by the bar CJ's in Oxford, OH. Basically for 14 days straight you had to go to CJ's and drink at least 3 drinks each night. On the 14th night you got a t-shirt and earned your name being written on the wall. It was probably the longest 2 weeks of my life, but it was totally worth every second and every drink. I still have to go back to CJ's and see my name proudly written on that wall. This shirt wont count towards my donation goal, since I don't think anyone would want it, but I had to highlight it here :o)

I've added another 27 items to my donate list! Woo hoo!!!!

#23: Donate 100 Things I Own- The Initial Purge

So for some reason I have become really excited about this goal. I have even dreamt about the things that I could give away. Purses, shoes, clothes, books...etc. I think the idea of having less stuff is kind of liberating. I'm not going to go all "Up in the Air" on you, (if you haven't seen it, buy it, rent it, watch it), after all, I did just buy a new sweater from Banana. My problem is I tend to accumulate new things without looking through what I have to get rid of. Not like hoarding, but more that I just don't think to get rid of anything. So this morning as I unpacked my suitcase from Christmas traveling, I did an initial purge. 22 items!! All with just a quick sweep of my closet and one of my drawers. Mostly dresses and tops, and this is only the winter stuff! I am literally so excited! I know I will definitely reach 100 and plan to see how far I can get! Maybe 200? Lets not get too carried away...

I have also decided that "donate" can be used loosely. I mean, if I hand it down to someone, that is considered a donation... right?

Here are a few of the highlights from the items I found to donate:
Picture
Adorable J.Crew skirt! ugh... I absolutely loved this skirt and I got it for Christmas a few years back. The problem is, that was when I was still carrying around my freshman 15 so it doesn't fit as right as I would like. I also have this weird feeling like I can only wear it around the Christmas holidays...

Can someone please tell me how I accumulated 5 cashmere/silk sweaters? Ok, 4 are off-white and 1 is white white but still! Unnecessary... I am actually keeping 3, 1 is being donated, and the other is going to a charity called Mary's closet..aka my mom
Picture
My 21st birthday shirt. Oh yes. Good times. I had seen it online and my mom and I went to the store and literally had to dig through the racks to find it. I loved it.

And of course, because it was from Forever21, and nothing from there lasts forever..(haha get it?) this happened. See ya shirt!

First bag!!! So proud of myself :o)
