So for some reason I have become really excited about this goal. I have even dreamt about the things that I could give away. Purses, shoes, clothes, books...etc. I think the idea of having less stuff is kind of liberating. I'm not going to go all "Up in the Air" on you, (if you haven't seen it, buy it, rent it, watch it), after all, I did just buy a new sweater from Banana. My problem is I tend to accumulate new things without looking through what I have to get rid of. Not like hoarding, but more that I just don't think to get rid of anything. So this morning as I unpacked my suitcase from Christmas traveling, I did an initial purge. 22 items!! All with just a quick sweep of my closet and one of my drawers. Mostly dresses and tops, and this is only the winter stuff! I am literally so excited! I know I will definitely reach 100 and plan to see how far I can get! Maybe 200? Lets not get too carried away...
I have also decided that "donate" can be used loosely. I mean, if I hand it down to someone, that is considered a donation... right?
Here are a few of the highlights from the items I found to donate:
Adorable J.Crew skirt! ugh... I absolutely loved this skirt and I got it for Christmas a few years back. The problem is, that was when I was still carrying around my freshman 15 so it doesn't fit as right as I would like. I also have this weird feeling like I can only wear it around the Christmas holidays...
Can someone please tell me how I accumulated 5 cashmere/silk sweaters? Ok, 4 are off-white and 1 is white white but still! Unnecessary... I am actually keeping 3, 1 is being donated, and the other is going to a charity called Mary's closet..aka my mom
My 21st birthday shirt. Oh yes. Good times. I had seen it online and my mom and I went to the store and literally had to dig through the racks to find it. I loved it.
And of course, because it was from Forever21, and nothing from there lasts forever..(haha get it?) this happened. See ya shirt!
