Well, it didn't go exactly as planned.
I have donated dinners to the Lighthouse shelter in the past, and have always had dinner ready at 7 pm. Apparently, this has changed and they now have dinner ready at 6 pm. So I arrive at 5:45 to start my lasagna and they have already started making something else because they thought I was a no show.
So bottom line, I was unable to cook, but my friends and I were able to donate 5 trays of lasagna, 4 bags of salad, 3 loafs of bread and 2 gallons of milk, which still made me feel pretty good. I probably spent around $50-$60 on my portion of this meal, and yes, that may mean that I can't buy those cute new wedge shoes I saw, but I fed 55 people. In my eyes, that is totally worth it.
I want to thank Lindsay for coming with me to the shelter, even though it was an anti-climatic night!
