The first time I ever had Indian food was in England. Sound random? Well it is actually one of the best places to have authentic Indian food, you know besides in India.
I was studying abroad and a few of us had decided to grab dinner and everyone was interested in this little place called Little India. I hesitated, never having had Indian food before, but I was reassured that I would love it.
And love it I did. I had Chicken Tikka, a pretty moderate dish for a first timer. Ever since that meal, I have always had Chicken Tikka when presented with the option of Indian food. I also learned about naan. Don't know naan? How about the lightest bread ever that tastes amazing with any dish including hummus. (Also makes a great pizza crust.)
Since this experience, I decided that I needed to try to make something Indian and settled on butter chicken and homemade naan. Now butter chicken isn't on my list, chicken tikka is, but I had seen this recipe circling Pinterest, so I felt like I needed to try it out.

Just look at all those spices! And can you see the coconut milk hiding back there? Yuuuuum! The real reason I decided on this was it cooked in a crock-pot. So while this was cooking:
I was doing this:
It was beer release day at Rams Head for their new beer Wisteria Wheat, and I also happened to win a $10 gift card!
But I digress. The naan. I have to say it wasn't all that hard to make. The hardest part would probably be getting the yeast to rise. The dough is basically mixing the dry and wet ingredients together and slowly adding flour until you can no longer stir the dough. Just let it rise and then divide it up.
See those bubbles right there? Perfection. You just cook one side, and then flip and cook the other until nice and crispy!
Big shout out to Abby for starting the yeast for me!
Just wait till you see what I did with the leftovers....
