I have wanted to read this book for quite sometime, and now with the movie out and all, I knew I had to read it.
I read it in one day. No joke. I started reading it after we came back home from our long hike to Braunwald. We were all just relaxing and cooking dinner. I ended up starting and finishing the book all in that one evening. Granted, I am a fast reader, the book isn't that long, and I stayed up till probably 1 am.
The book is about a 90 something year old (he isn't even sure how old he is) man who now lives in a nursing home. When a circus comes to town and begins to construct their tent across the street from the home, his memories of his time working under the big top come flooding back.
There was so much I loved about this book. The story was well written, and I love books that are constructed as flashbacks. It was heartbreaking, funny and thought-provoking all in one. I would highly recommend this book, especially as a great summer beach read. A great summer beach read that is more than just a sappy romance novel, but one that makes you think about and appreciate what you have.
