Ugh, I don't want to finish writing about this trip... it means it's over!!! WAAAAAH!

(Kristin it has been over for over 4 months.. get over it)

I know... I know... tear..

Our last day in Europe was amazing, I couldn't have asked for a better day, and it was brought to you by the letter G...for Gaudi.

We woke up and had some fresh fruit we had from bought from the mercat the day before and headed to the metro to see the famous Sagrada de Familia created by the master architect Gaudi.

As soon as you get off the metro, you are standing beneath one of the most amazing pieces of architecture in the world.

I mean... hello. This photo doesn't even do it justice. If you aren't familiar with the Sagrada Familia it began being built in 1882, and Gaudi took over the project in 1883. Gaudi died in 1926 after being hit by a train, but the construction of the church continues to this day. It is anticipated that it will finally be completed in 2026. A long wait, but so worth it.

The front of the church is decorated with carvings of the 12 scenes before Jesus was crucified.

The back often looks like it is melting or like a drippy sand castle, but it is actually ornate carvings that show Mary's coronation and the nativity scene.

But the inside...

I mean wow... wow... WOW!

It was seriously breathtaking, and so worth the 45 minute wait in line to see it. We also paid a extra to take an elevator up to look around the spires of the church.
Jake and I were both so impressed with the Sagrada, and I would love to come back when it is finally finished and take it all in.

Enjoy some more photos of the Sagrada, it was so amazing it deserves its own post!
