Pretty good right? In the movie Tootsie, he plays a struggling actor in LA who can't seem to find work unless he dresses like a woman to play a part in a daytime soap opera.
The whole time I was thinking about my friend Matt who is currently living in LA, doing his best to make it as an actor (and possibly rapper?) I have to tell him to not resort to cross-dressing as a woman to get work.
However in Dustin Hoffman's case it worked!
The movie was good, and obviously Dustin Hoffman is a great actor, and really had me fooled when he was dressed like a woman, but I wouldn't say it was his best film. It had great moments, but there are something about 80's genre films that rub me the wrong way. I know, I know as my boyfriend pointed out to me, "Star Wars was made in the 80's!." Yes there are good 80's movies, but I don't know if it's the matronly outfits, the crazy hair, or the heavy make-up, but it always throws me off.
Maybe it would be better as a remake? But then, I don't know what actor could pull off looking so good as a woman!
